The Corn Palace is pleased to welcome back Mike Miller now the Houston Mustangs Head Coach. Mike Miller along with son’s (Mason 6’9 Senior) and (Mavrick, 6’4 sophomore) will return to the Corn Palace as Coach Miller for the first time. This game will be open to the public with tickets available at the door. Doors will open at 4:30 pm, $5 tickets for all ages are available at the door, Pre-K free. A reminder that face masks/coverings are required inside the Corn Palace.
The Houston Mustangs are the #2 ranked team in class 3A from Germantown, TN. They currently have a 5-2 record and will play Brandon Valley High School on Saturday, January 9th. The Lower Brule Sioux are currently 4-0 and ranked #9 in Class B in South Dakota. The Lower Brule Sioux played last weekend at the Corn Palace in the Sacred Hoops Classic defeating Freeman Academy/Marion.
Originally from Mitchell, South Dakota, Miller’s basketball pedigree is world-class. He was a McDonald’s All American in 1997-98. After leading the University of Florida to the National Championship game in 2000, he was the fifth overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. He went on to a 17 year professional career which included: 2 NBA World Championships (2012, 2013), NBA Rookie of The Year (2001), and NBA Sixth Man of The Year (2006).
Mike currently holds the Memphis Grizzlies franchise records for Most Points in a Game (45) and Most 3-pointers in a Game (9). Mike Miller became the Houston Mustangs coach in 2020.
